We are better together—whether with our chosen family, friends, birth family, or all of the above. At this time of year, we celebrate the importance of community, connection, and love. For many of us, family isn't just about biology, but about the people who accept us, support us, and stand by us in all our identities.
As we gather in gratitude, we honor the Indigenous peoples of this land, whose generosity and wisdom made it possible for communities to thrive here long before this holiday existed. Their sacrifices, resilience, and care for the earth continue to inspire us, even as we acknowledge the ongoing work of justice and equity to which we must all commit.
In that spirit, we hope this Thanksgiving brings warmth, love, and joy to all of you, especially to our LGBTQIA+ community members who may find this time of year challenging. From all of us here at Ruth Ellis Center, we wish you a Happy Thanksgiving filled with warmth, love, and togetherness.
